BIS # 1161 A PASTOR COMES HOME

Caroline Vaz VIRAR, OCTOBER 25, 2008: Mission Sunday was a memorable day for the parishioners of Virar. Our very own first Parish Priest – Fr. Dominic Lisboa – who has now earned the title of ‘missionary’, was the celebrant for the occasion. Fr. Dominic was parish priest at Virar from 1994 to 1999. The parishioners of Resurrection Parish still have fond memories of Fr. Dominic trudging along on his bicycle, visiting the families in the parish and attending to their spiritual needs. In his homily, Fr Dominic shared his experience of working in the Andaman Islands. He explained to the congregation the social situation of the place and the difficulties the people there have to face. His homily was a great eye-opener to all of us. Presently Fr Dominic is working at Shelter Don Bosco at Wadala, the institution that looks after street boys. Although he spent just two days with us on this occasion, it felt like a homecoming. As we recall happy memories of his days with us, he is busy creating happy memories in places God has now called him to work!
