The Small Christian Communities and Associations are important and have their role in community building and fulfilling the mission of the parish community. This indeed is a concrete expression of the local church participating in the mission of the Universal Church. Understanding the collaborative role of the laity 25 parishioners of St. John’s Church, Ahmednagar Camp, attended the IV Introductory Training Programme for Building of SCC. The emphasis was laid on greater participation of the people to strengthen the parish community. As part of the Gospel Sharing the participants also undertake some task and perform it as a service to the church.

The faith – formation classes enable the children and young to grow in the love of God and also to understand the mission of the Church. The faith – formation animators were felicitated on the Teachers Day for their role in strengthening the faith of the young in the love of God.

The youth also have a major role to take up various activities in the church. The young were taken for an outing to the Vrundavan, Paithan under the guidance of Fr. Michael Bansode. They also met the Bishop emeritus of Nashik diocese Thomas Bhalerao sj and wished him well who is under the care of the Nitya Seva Sisters, Shevgaon.

Associations help in living a life of witness in the parish. As the Salesian Congregation celebrates 150 years of its foundation a group of parishioners were initiated to the Association of Mary Help of Christians. After preliminary instructions 15 parishioners pledged themselves during the Eucharist on the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary that they would study and practice the regulations of ADMA. The members were introduced to ADMA first on the feast of the Assumption. Later they prepared themselves by participating in the novenas and adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.

The feast of the Nativity of BVM was celebrated as the Day of the Girl Child. A short procession with the statue of Our Lady was taken while the devotees prayed the rosary along the way. After Mass the faithful devoutly offered flowers to Our Lady.
