On the January 24, 2010 Shelter Don Bosco, Karjat received a new lease of life. A new beginning and the dream of our Father & Founder Don Bosco reached a new realization. The beneficiaries, the marginalized of society could now look up to a brighter future.

Mr. Loris Joppini –President ASHA FOUNDATION in a grand opening ceremony handed over the keys of ASHA KIRAN – (Ray of Hope) to the Salesians. In gratitude to ASHA FOUNDATION the residence block has been named as ASHA KIRAN. After the handing over of the building a solemn Eucharistic celebration followed with Fr. Provincial, presiding over the Eucharist in the new chapel. The cultural programme began with a prayer dance by the children of Good Shepherd school, Karjat and the highlight was the words of hope and encouragement given by Mr. Loris Joppini in his speech. A small skit in English bringing out the life of the trainees at Karjat was well appreciated given the fact that the trainees are dropouts and had no prior exposure to English.

On behalf of the Salesians Fr. Provincial thanked Asha Foundation for their support to the different houses in the province. The programme ended with lunch and with the satisfaction of a new chapter that unfolded on the January 24, 2010. The institution is now working on Eco-spirituality to utilize the given structure and educate schools, youth groups, SHG’s etc. who can avail of the premises to change our world into a better world to live in.
