NASHIK, SEPTEMBER 3, 2010: On August 29, 2010 two novenas in honour of Our Lady of Vailankanni at Don Bosco Church, Nashik and Dominic Savio Church, Satpur were started. At Satpur it was the second year in succession. August 29, being Sunday the faithful at Satpur gathered in big numbers at the grotto before the morning Eucharistic Celebration. They all recited the Holy Rosary and the Litany, after which, the Marian flag was hoisted by the Parish Priest, Fr. Nelson Falcao. The nine days of the novena and the Feast Day animation are distributed among the various zones. The people are very enthusiastic and gather in big numbers for the novena services. The Mahila Mandala do the cleaning of the Church and the surrounding. The offerings consist of sarees for Our Lady, daily collection and various types of Prasad (food or snacks) offered in the name of Mary.
The Novena to Our Lady of Vailankanni also started this year at Don Bosco Parish, Nashik. Traditionally the people used to go to Devlali Camp. But since attending the novena service at Devlali Camp takes much time in travelling, the parishioners since last year have been suggesting having a novena in honour of Our Lady of Vailankanni at Don Bosco Church, Nashik. The parishioners are very happy that we have begun the novena here too. The whole novena programme consists of the recitation of the Holy Rosary, the recitation of the Litany of Our Lady, the Holy Eucharist with a Homily and the novena prayers at the post-communion time. A number of people faithfully attend the novena services. May Our Lady intercede for us all.
