MATUNGA, SEPTEMBER 9, 2010: As part of our monthly sessions of the Bosco Youth Group, on August 8, The Junior Bosco Youth Group members of DBYS, Matunga had a memorable experience at Shelter Don Bosco. Led by Father Brian and three volunteers, eighteen of our young members trooped to interact with the youngsters at Shelter. We were also treated to a brief magic show by Fr. Roger, who inspired us to be daring in reaching out to poor youngsters, to be sensitive to their needs. We then formed small groups to have a meaningful interaction with the boys.

The day ended with a simple evening tea with the boys.

On September 5, we went for a pilgrimage to Mount Mary, Bandra. Youngsters along with a few parents, numbering fifty in all, boarded the bus which was hired for the occasion. We were thrilled that Fr. Sanjay joined our group with a group of twelve altar servers and three volunteers from our Lady of Dolours Parish, Wadala. Our first stop was at Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Bandra where Fr. Anthony Fernandes, the Arch-Diocesan Youth and Vocation Director interacted with our group. He spoke about the need to grab every opportunity to learn and to get ahead in life. He also briefed us about the centre and the works going on there.

We then visited our Blessed Mother to wish her for her birthday, followed by time for marketing. Following this we visited the Bandra Fort, which overlooks the amazing Sea Link. The group had a thrilling experience here, just drinking in the scenery and enjoying the chanas and the pure sea breeze. At the Don Bosco Youth Services Matunga, we have three groups functioning, namely the Junior and Senior Bosco Youth Groups, and a group comprising of working youngsters. Our next programme is a Retreat at the Lord’s Ranch for Working Youngsters from September 10 to September 12, 2010.
