BORIVLI, FEBRUARY 9, 2011: A session on Tobacco awareness was organized for the students of Bosco Boys, MoRD, and Sankalp on February 8, 2011 by a well known NGO Salaam Bombay. Hundred and fifty students attended the session. The session began in the morning at 10 am with Mr. Dayanand Patil welcoming Ms. Rupali Sapate the trainer, who came along with five students representing Salaam Bombay.
The session started with a power point presentation on Tobacco and its harm on the human body. The five students who accompanied the trainer did a few role plays, after which three students from MoRD, Sankalp, and Bosco Boys were asked to do the role plays.
The students were then divided into groups and were asked to discuss, how they could help the other students who are addicted to tobacco. Ms. Rupali then shared a few testimonies’ of students who were addicted to cigarettes and gutkaas and how they got rid of them. There were a few questions put by the students towards which they received a concrete answer. The session got over at 12.00 noon and Mr. Dayanand Patil, Development Office Coordinator who arranged this program thanked Ms. Rupali for the knowledge that she shared with the students on the awareness on tobacco. He also thanked Fr. Anthony Santarita for backing this session so that the institute could see a change in the youth. The five students who accompanied Ms. Rupali were facilitated with a gift as a token of appreciation on behalf of Fr. Anthony Santarita and Don Bosco Technical Training Institute.
