BIS #2341 SENIOR CITIZENS' PILGRIMAGE

Milton D’Souza
BORIVLI, MARCH 23, 2011: Our parish organized a “Lenten Pilgrimage” for the Senior Citizens. The pilgrimage was flagged off with a prayer and a blessing by Fr. Ronnie, our Parish Priest. The pilgrims were accompanied by Fr. Allwyn Misquitta and Mr. Harry Menezes. The churches visited were as follows: The Shrine of Don Bosco’s Madonna, Matunga; Salvation Church, Dadar; Gloria Church, Byculla; St. Anne’s Church, Mazgaon; Rosary Church, Dockyard and finally Holy Name Cathedral, Colaba.

At each of these churches we reflected on some of the Stations of the Cross, sang hymns to the accompaniment of pre-recorded music and we were also presented with a brief history of the church by Mr. Harry Menezes.

The Eucharist was celebrated at Holy Name Cathedral. For most of the pilgrims this was the first visit to some of the churches, for others this visit brought back nostalgic memories of the times they spent in some church or the other as children. After a sumptuous lunch we began our journey back to Borivli via the Bandra sea-link. The pilgrimage was a truly prayerful and enriching experience for all te participants
