WALVANDA, JULY 4, 2011: On July 2, 2011 Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha organized a two days training programme in play-way method of education. The programme was planned for July 2 and July 3, 2011 at Walwanda. Forty youth, VEP teachers with facilitators and BSVS staff attended the training programme.
Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha is promoting Bal Sanskar Kendra (VEP) in forty villages of Jawhar and Mokhada Taluka. The main aim is to reduce dropout rate and create a healthy environment for children’s education. The training programme was conducted by the NGO “Gram Mangal”, their expertise lies in primary education to the tribals using simple aids that are found in everyday life, for example; small pebbles, leaves, sticks…etc, with a mix of stories, games and songs. Eight years ago, this NGO was awarded the “Maschio Memorial Foundation Award” from the hands of Rev. Fr. Edwin D’Souza. We hope to start a collaborative venture with them in education.
The training began with the lighting of the lamp by Br. Alex Gonsalves, Assistant Director of BSVS. In his speech, Br. Alex said that it is an opportunity for us to reach out to the community and motivate our parents and teachers for their children’s education. There are many challenges in front of us and education is one of the best solutions to face these challenges.
Mrs. Yogita Devare and Ms. Poonam Rao from Gram Mangal, Dahanu, were the resource persons for the training programme.
On the first day the resource taught the animators how to improve their Grasping, Listening, Reading and Writing skills of the children. The second day focused on simple mathematics.
During the valedictory function, Fr. Anaclete spoke about the importance of education and how we can reach these simple techniques to children and make education healthy. He further said that our dream is the wholesome development of these villages and education is very important in actualizing this dream.
The vote of thanks was given by BSVS staff Mr. Sanjay Shinde. We also thank Mr. Pradeep Ghute who had taken keen interest in the success of this programme.
