DIVYADAAN, AUGUST 4, 2011: The community of Divyadaan staged the Musical “Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” on July 30 and July 31, 2011 in the Divyadaan auditorium. The lyrics of the Musical written by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Weber echoed aptly the dramatic story of Joseph in the Holy Bible.

Fr. Savio D’souza, the Rector of Divyadaan, after inviting the gathering, emphasized that the objective of this performance was to help young brothers prepare for their future ministry, besides showcasing their varied talents. The Divyadaan band played the melodious symphony ‘The Godfather’ which was followed by the actual staging to the musical. The audience were glued to the spectacular acting and portrayal of love and forgiveness in the narrative of the biblical figure Joseph. This was depicted extravagantly in music, dance, colour, costume and expression. The musical came to its peak with the reunion of Joseph, his brothers and his father Jacob. The speciality of the show was that each and every member of the community was present on stage at the curtain call ceremony. The community received a standing ovation and hearty cheers for its performance.

The show was a perfect example of teamwork on the part of the staff as well as the brothers. The director Br. Jacob Palaparambil and the co-ordinator Fr. Felix Fernandes were the visionaries of this massive endeavour who envisaged the enacting of the play as early as six months in advance. The preparation, collaboration, sacrifice and hard work put in by each community member, led to the accomplishment of this performance. All in all, the project was a successful one, thus making Divyadaan a family deeply grateful to God for all the blessings and talents that have been given to each of the family members.

To end with the words of Br. Palaparambil, quoted at the culmination of the musical ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ and in keeping with the spiritual visit of Don Bosco’s Relic, “...we are sons of a dreamer (Don Bosco) trying to bring out the dream of spreading love, peace and friendship among all people.
