BIS #2788 SMILING DON BOSCO - NERUL

NERUL, FEBRUARY 01, 2012: Preparations for the Feast of Don Bosco, the patron Saint of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, began from the first week of January. Every morning, after prayers, the whole school raised their voices in unison, singing hymns to Saint John Bosco.

On January 3, 2012 the feast day Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Bonnie Borges, for the Catholic students and the staff members. Fr. Borges spoke to the students about how Don Bosco led an exemplary life in faith and love. He exhorted the students to follow his footsteps and have devotion to Mary Help of Christians, so that miracles may occur in their lives. There was a special prayer service for the students of other faiths in the Assembly Hall, by the Principal, Fr. Anthony Fonseca. He, too, urged the students to make St. John Bosco a guiding light to lead their lives in faith, respect and loving kindness.

After the prayer service, all assembled in the Assembly Hall for the programme.  The Fathers and Supervisors lit the Lamp. Fr. Bonnie spoke about Don Bosco through anecdotes stressing the depth of his faith and how miracles can happen if we too have faith. The students of classes IV and V, along with their teachers, Annie and Muriel, portrayed the life of Don Bosco through various items. The skit, `Smiling Don Bosco´ inspired all on how Don Bosco smiled in all trials and how he and Mama Margaret, knew the value of laughter. All were then enraptured by a medley of dance and songs, all based on Don Bosco.

The tiny-tots of the Pre-primary section danced to the tune of another inspiring song on Don Bosco, accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation on the work of the Salesians in various parts of India, prepared by teacher Minal. Two short videos on the hardships Don Bosco suffered in his childhood and his mother's constant guidance as well as the way Don Bosco attracted the youth through games and fun, kept the audience interested.

Fr. Principal, then delivered the Vote of thanks and wished all present, `A very happy feast!
