BIS #2793 PLUCKY JOSEPHITES

BIS Correspondent

WADALA, FEBRUARY 03, 2012: There could have been a no better day and no better occasion than the feast day of Don Bosco for the momentous finals – and a mouth watering clash for that – between the two top Salesian schools in basketball at St. Joseph's, Wadala.  The under – 11 finals in the boys' section witnessed a repeat of last year's finals: St. Joseph's Wadala v/s Don Bosco Matunga.  In a see-saw battle for supremacy that followed, luck favored Bosco's, but the plucky Josephites won the hearts of many with their outstanding display.  A game can have only one winner, and Don Bosco won by the narrowest of margins possible in the game of basketball – one point. St. Joseph's lost in the last fifteen seconds of the game: 16-17!

In an earlier clash for the u-13 age group, our boys again could not get the better of their arch rivals Don Bosco Matunga in the finals after having outclassed all the other top teams of Mumbai on the way to the finals.  They lost to a better, and well knit team in Don Bosco's.

Looking back at a tournament that attracts the very best teams of Mumbai, St. Joseph's can truly boast of a proud record.  It was 1-2-2 for the Josephites in the u-16, u-13 and u-11 categories respectively.  And yes, all the finals featured St. Joseph's and Don Bosco Matunga – neighbourhood and sister concern rivalry at its very best!

In Gymnastics, our budding star, Yash Pardeshi, bagged silver medals in the floor exercises and Vaulting Horse events in the u-10 category at the MSSA conducted Gymnastics tournament on January 28, 2012.  Our young gymnast continues to impress with his agile and sublime skills that lend themselves to tumbles, rolls, twists and cartwheels! Well done Yash!

A congratulatory note to all our basketball team members and their coaches, Mr. Raju and Mr. Somnath, who have done our school proud; and a quote that sums up their success:  "I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen!" - Frank Lloyd Wright
