BIS #2877 OUR PATRON SAINT REMEMBERED

Cressieda Murzello
WADALA, MARCH 22, 2012: March 19 is a special day in the calendar of St. Joseph's, Wadala, a day we remember and honour St. Joseph, our patron saint.  This year was no different. A special Eucharistic celebration at 8 am that was very well attended was a prelude to a host of other celebrations for the day.  The main celebrant, Fr. Bernard Fernandes, our Principal, welcomed the big representation of students, staff –present and past, past pupils, parishioners and well wishers. The Eucharist on this day invoking God's blessings for 'Peace and Harmony' in the world, was a culmination of the well animated themes right through the novena. We all joined the Holy Church in the banner to support peace in the world.  Catholic students from Std V to IX animated the liturgy each day praying for the different virtues (theme of the day) and for peace in the various continents. Special invitees from among the Salesians, co-operators, past pupils and parishioners spoke on these themes at the morning assemblies.
At a special get-together after the Eucharist, Fr. Godfrey D'Sa, our Rector, welcomed the gathering of staff, past pupils, PTA members and well wishers, and generously praised all responsible for a healthy and educative atmosphere in the school. The informal gathering was a meeting of past and present – teachers and pupils, well wishers and parents.  A recall of happy memories and the exciting happenings of the day lent to the cheerful atmosphere in the hall. The celebrations could not be prolonged – how we wished to! – as the secondary staff had to rush to prepare for the SSC Board examination scheduled in the school.
The students present for the mass had some snacks and refreshments served for them in the parish hall immediately after the Eucharist.  For many of them, the days leading to the feast were days of special grace that resonated gratitude for the many wonders that St. Joseph worked in their lives and families.  All the students of the school had their share of (sweet) celebration the day following the feast of St. Joseph.

St. Joseph has protected us and guided us.  We have the firm belief that he will continue to do so.
