Osborn Furtado
VIRAR, MARCH 31, 2012: Today it was a day of celebration at the University of Toddler's Don Bosco, Virar, where seventeen children were graduated from the kinder garden. This was attended by the Parish Priest, Teachers and the Parents.

The programme began with a Thanks giving prayer service, followed by the cultural items put up by the children, with the help of their teachers. The children presented a dance and a skit which was very well appreciated by the parents. The Parish Priest, Fr. Lawrence D'souza who is also the Rector at Resurrection Church Virar, distributed the Certificates and Gifts to the children in the presence of the teachers, and parents. In his words of wisdom Fr. D'Souza insisted that the children must be educated not only in intellectual knowledge but also with the values of life, discipline, and respect for each and every human person. He also encouraged parents to take extra interests in the studies of their children.

The parents were amazed at the knowledge which their children have received during the year.  They were grateful to the institution and in a very special way to Fr. D'Souza and the teachers for imparting knowledge which is full of values and discipline. The parents also commented that their children have become active and smart in study, sports and extra curriculum activities. The programme ended with the words of gratitude expressed by one of the parents.

We wish the children ALL THE BEST for their future Studies.

SALESIAN COOPERATORS GROW IN NUMBER

Sr. Catherine Fernandes FMA

AHMEDNAGAR, MARCH 30, 2012: Faith and festivity combined to make March 24, 2012 an unforgettable day for our Salesian Co-operators of Laura Vicuna – Ahmednagar. Mrs. Swapnali Brahmne and her son Sagar Brahmne, Mrs. Usha and Mr. Sakahari Kedari, Mrs. Sureka and Mr. Tarachand Barse and Mrs. Jyoti Rupwate made their Promise.

This took place during the solemn Eucharist presided over by Fr. Manuel Murzello at St. John Bosco Church – Savedi and concelebrated by his confreres, in the presence of Sr. Phyllis Fernandes – FMA Delegate, Mrs. Claudina Pinto – Provincial Coordinator of Salesian Co-operators, many Salesian Sisters, a good number of their relatives and parishioners and few former Salesian Co-operators who were especially invited. The homily highlighted the unique grace bestowed on the seven new members, the vocation of a Salesian Co-operator and Don Bosco's immense trust in Mary Help of Christians.

The seven new Cooperators then placed colourful lamps in front of a decorated stand of Don Bosco, Dominic Savio and Laura Vicuna, as an expression of their commitment to make the young their life's mission by coming to know and imitate Don Bosco. Each of them received a Certificate, the Regulations and a memento. They were overwhelmed with profound gratitude to God. The liturgical celebration followed by dinner was a happy union of the Salesian Family. The occasion was made more significant, as an invitation was extended for new members to join the Association.
