SAVIO PREPRIMARY CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

Renita D'souza

BORIVLI-MUMBAI, DECEMBER 29, 2012 :  The Savio Kindergartens Jr. Kg’s Christmas celebrations began with the little ones enacting the ‘Birth of Jesus’ with the help of their teachers. The play was enacted against a beautiful background of the manger put up by a few of our hardworking and supportive parents.

‘Peace to All’ was the special message conveyed through the play.

The little ones presented the ‘Nativity Tableau’ compromising of Our Lady, St Joseph, The Three Wise kings, Shepherds as well as our cute little animals including sheep, a donkey and a cow.

Traditional Christmas Carols were sung. The spirit of Christmas was further kindled with the arrival of ‘Santa Claus’ who added to the glee and cheer to the faces of the little students. The short and sweet Christmas celebrations ended with each child receiving his Christmas gift and a snack box.

Though gift giving is a big aspect of Christmas we should not forget the ‘Special Gift’ of Jesus that God has given us. Jesus is the true meaning of Christmas and all that He stands for is Love, Peace and Joy being the actual gifts of ‘Christmas’.

SAVEDI AHMEDNAGAR, DECEMBER 28, 2012: The Parishioners of Lourdes Mata zone, Tagad Vasti, of Don Bosco Savedi Church set out on an outreach programme to Krustdham on December 26, 2012 at 5.00 p.m.

Krustdham is a place for Lepers of the society who have no one to care for.

Since Christmas is a season of giving and sharing the parishioners of Lourdes Mata zone had a strong desire to share the Love, Joy, and Peace of Christmas with those who need it the most.

They entered the place singing carols thus catching everyone’s attention. All the people gathered together in one place and joined in singing the carols.

Then the word of God was read, broken and shared. The inmates of Krustdham were given Christmas sweets prepared by the parishioners.

SENIOR CITIZENS CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS

Fr. Kenneth Pereira sdb

BARODA-GUJARAT, DECEMBER 28, 2012:  For a long time the senior citizens of Don Bosco Parish Baroda felt like a spent out force. But the amazing turnout at the recent Christmas celebration that was held for them makes one re-consider that evaluation.

On December 26, 2012, in the school AV hall, some sixty two senior citizens came together for a Christmas celebration that was held exclusively for them.

They had a jolly good time with community carol singing, games of guessing, games of skill, games of fun... and finally, some freshly prepared snacks and hot vegetable soup that brought the evening to a fitting climax.

Of course, our dynamic youth were there--as always--to help in the organization.

BHARATRATNA MOTHER TERESA ADHAR JIVAN AWARD

Bento D’Souza

BHINGAR-AHMEDNAGAR, DECEMBER 26, 2012 :  At a colourful, well Planned and executed Award presentation, Dr. Fr. Nelson Falcao was gifted the Bharatratna Mother Teresa Adhar Jivan Award in Pitale Nagar, Nagpur, MIDC, Savedi, on December 23, 2012 in the evening.

The creators of the Award, Adhar Samajik and Shaikshanik Pratisthan, is the society who runs the Little Angels Nursery that feeds children in the Auxilium Convent Institution as an educational partner.

They have been running the nursery and presenting awards for ten years  in the social fields of Literature, Religion and Education. Fr. Nelson was the chief guest and lit the lamp. Ten awards were given this year.

Usually no prophet is accepted in his country by his own people. But Fr. Nelson is an exception. Fr. Manuel Murzello and Fr. Gohil sdb, looked on, with adulation and disbelief in their eyes to the award being received by one of our Salesians, in their own territory of Savedi.

CHRISTMAS IS HERE

BIS Correspondent

WADALA-MUMBAI, DECEMBER 24, 2012 :  It is said, Christmas time is the best time of the year.  Indeed it is.  Decorations, parties, carols, programs, cribs… they all add to the festive and joyous spirit of the Christmas season.  At St. Joseph’s Wadala, things were no different.

The entire week leading to the Christmas symposium was lit up with festivities and preparations:  inter-class star making competition, adorning of the class crib with decorations and statues, Christmas card making contest, singing of Christmas carols and planning a Christmas program that would include reaching out to the less fortunate.

Come the Christmas symposium and party day in school, and the festivities reached a crescendo. Brightly dressed, no school uniform! students trooped to their classrooms for the morning  prayer and assembly at the start of the day, and blessed God for the year gone by.

The programs for the Secondary and Primary section followed in succession in the school hall. The Kg. students had a taste of the Christmas jolly spirit at the specially arranged parties in their classrooms, with special gifts and sweets from Santa Claus.

The Christmas program had a touch of tradition, creativity, inspiration and melody. The small skit by the secondary section giving us the true meaning of Christmas was heartening.  The primary section regaled us with Christmas carols that narrated the Christmas story.  Truly, the stage was a picture of the Christmas scene twenty centuries ago.

After the program, it was time for some merriment. The students together with their class teachers and other staff members,  gathered  in their respective classrooms for a Christmas party comprising games, sing-song and snacks.

Thereafter, the school staff had their share of Christmas fun and camaraderie at a special gathering in the school hall.  Singing of carols, Christmas messages, a delicious meal and mouth watering desserts featured in this homely celebration.

As always, a bright spark of the Christmas festivity,  is the spirit of giving. That's what Christmas really is, the love of Jesus that fills us with Hope, Joy, Peace and Love, prompts us to share our sentiments with others, especially the less fortunate.

This year the classes grouped together to add to the joy of disadvantaged children in our city in a spirit of sharing.  The students  of Std. I and II have decided to reach out to Asha Daan in Byculla; Std. III and IV will be helping St. Catherine of Siena Orphanage, Bandra; Std. V and VI are contributing to a Balwadi in the vicinity which is run by a retired teacher of our school, Mrs. Aranha; Std. VII and VIII will be contributing to Municipal Schools in Ghatkopar/Chembur, and Std. IX and X have taken up Shelter - Don Bosco.

We truly feel blessed at Christmas , because we are loved, and love in return, unconditionally!
