DON BOSCO, NERUL CELEBRATES SIXTY FOURTH REPUBLIC DAY

NERUL-NAVIMUMBAI, JANUARY 29, 2013 :  Don Bosco Senior Secondary School celebrated the Sixty fourth Republic Day on January 26, 2013, with great enthusiasm. The programme began at 7.40 a.m in the school assembly hall.

 

The students and parents gathered on this special occasion to witness the cultural programme. More than seventy five students of different classes participated in the programme. The programme was successfully conducted by Tr. Neeru Nigam under the able guidance of Supervisor Mr.Pankaj Rai.

 

The Chief guest Fr. Savio Silveira was welcomed by our Principal Fr. Anthony Fonseca. The Chief guest was escorted by the students to the venue. He was felicitated by Fr. Principal and was presented  a  sapling as  a gesture of respect and honour.

 

The programme   began with the flag hoisting followed by the National Anthem. The Flag song was sung by a group of twenty five students followed by a speech in English and Hindi.

 

A skit was presented by the students of class VI B, based on the life of a great freedom fighter Veer Savarkar who sacrificed his life for attaining freedom from the Britishers. The scene depicted the difficulties faced by Veer Savarkar in cellular jail.

 

Students presented a dance sequence choreographed by Mahi Dance Group.

 

The Chief Guest Fr. Savio Silveira distributed certificates to the teachers who passed the DB way exams. He expressed happiness and congratulated all the participants and teachers who made this occasion a big success. He also shared his thoughts on importance of Republic day and motivated students to grow more trees. He inaugurated a programme GFP week  (Gift a Flowering Plant) starting from 26 to 31 January.

Fr. Savio distributed prizes to winners of the Handwriting Olympiad. Naresh Balamurgan from Class VII A won the second prize at the National level Handwriting Competition.
