ST. JOHN BOSCO PARISH SUMMER CLUB INAUGURATED

By: Dn. Shekar Mariadas

BORIVLI-MUMBAI, APRIL 20, 2013: St. John Bosco Parish Borivli began its summer actives for catholic children of the parish, from 15th April to May 24th 2013.

The Summer Club was officially inaugurated on April 17, 2013 by the Parish Priest Fr. Aloysius Furtado and the Rector of the institution Fr. William Falcao, in the presence of Fr. Carlos George and Fr. Allwyn Misquitta and some of the parents.

The programme began with a hymn to the Holy Spirit and as the hymn was being played the priests of the community lit four candles in front of the crucifix symbolizing love, faith, hope and charity.

First two days were open days for the children who prepared themselves for the club. Sixty five children have enrolled themselves and we hope to get more children by the coming week.

The purpose of this summer club is to get the catholic children more familiar with church activities and to participate in the liturgy more meaningfully. Though the children have everything at home, we are happy to see them coming forward and enjoying themselves making more friends.

We as a Salesian community plan to have different activities, so that the children find it more interesting and a learning summer experience. Dn. Shekar who had meaningful Holy Week services, Easter celebration and house blessings is now organizing this summer club for the children along with the youth of the Parish.
