On 15th November, 2013, St. Domnic Savio School campus was buzzing with excitement and joy as more than 1,100 children from 18 NGOs and from slum communities celebrated the World Children's Day organised by Don Bosco Balprafulta.
"Aadhi Roti Khayenge, Phir Bhi School Jayenge", "Chilli Milli Chilli Milli Dhoom Dhadaka… Haiiya.. Haiyya" were some of the slogans by children. The day began with fun filled games and creative activities. The children enjoyed all the games and there were smiles on the faces of each and every child. After the games, it was time for the children to participate in a collage activity. Drawings and collages made by the children were exhibited during the stage event. Children used their imagination to create various works of art.
During the stage event, the children enjoyed performances which included dances, live music and skit performed by children belonging to different slum communities. Along with fun and enjoyment, children from Balsanghtans created awareness on Child Sexual Abuse and Child Labour through a street play. Children from the Govandi slums exhibited their skills and talents through an energetic dance performance.
More than 90 students from different colleges volunteered their services to make this event a success. Each child left with a smile, carrying with them happy memories of a wonderful day full of enjoyment.
