WADALA – MUMBAI, JUNE 5, 2014: The church of Our Lady of Dolours,  Wadala organized a six-week long summer club for the children of the parish from  April 21 to May 31,  2014 in the church premises. Fifty children registered themselves for the same. The camp was conducted from Monday to Saturday in the morning from 9:30am to 12:00pm and in the evening from 4:30pm to 7:00pm.  It was packed with a variety of programmes, activities and competitions.  The children were encouraged to play indoor games in the morning which included carrom, chess, table tennis and badminton.  The evenings were filled with exciting outdoor games like baseball, bucket ball, throw ball etc. During the summer club the children participated in various competitions like singing, dancing, cooking, fancy dress, best out of waste any many more engaging activities.

As part of the summer club the children in collaboration with Greenline carried out a massive e-Waste drive. They collected 140kgs of e-waste which was then handed over to 'recycle karo' for proper disposal.   Some of the major activities included treasure hunt, water games, G.K. quiz and tele-games.  The kids went out for a picnic to Boscowadi Uttan where they had a wonderful time.   The club reached its pinnacle with the Camp-fire. The teams prepared themselves well for the event. Parishioners and well-wishers enjoyed performances by the children. The final day consisted of the prize distribution ceremony, wherein the children were given prizes in various categories.  Fr. Godfrey D'Sa gave away the prizes to the winning teams.

The summer club is indeed grateful to the parish team, parishioners and well- wishers for their support. The volunteers too played a major role to make the camp a huge success. The children were happy to be a part of the summer club 2014, more as it helped them to make new friends and grow in sound, body and spirit. The parents were glad that the club helped the children to socialize among their friends. The club helped the children the live up to the words of Don Bosco, 'Run, jump, play but do not sin'.
