BIS # 4001 FOR NOW AND FOREVER

by Susan D'costa

NORTH ARABIAN VICARIATE, June 24, 2014: On Thursday, June 12, 2014, the Cherubs Team of the Family Ministry of St Thérèse Parish in the North Arabian Vicariate organized its monthly programme for newlyweds.

The Programme began with Mass at 6:30 pm which was celebrated by Fr. Lionel Braganza sdb. The liturgy was well prepared keeping the theme 'marriage' in mind. The choir, ably led by Faust and Reema helped the congregation to participate better. In his usual witty style, Fr. Lionel touched upon various issues concerning marriage, emphasizing the importance of keeping Christ, love and mutual respect at the centre of their marriages.

The homily was followed by renewal of marriage vows. At the end of the mass, each couple came forward to receive special blessings from Fr. Lionel and to receive a little momento of the evening. Mass was followed by a brief presentation by Cherub Chrisma Pereira on the various parish activities to increase awareness and offer these young couples an opportunity to participate more actively in the parish community.

An enriching session was conducted by Amira Peter on 'After the wedding day and living happily ever-after' with a focus on the challenges of early married life. Once the euphoria of being "in-love" dies down, couples become increasingly aware of their differences. Gradually frustration, irritation and conflict creep in. The session introduced the couples to Gary Chapman's Five Love Languages as a way to understand differences and enrich their lives together. A lively fellowship of innovative games, spot prizes and dancing followed the session. Even the young parents with their newly borns participated enthusiastically.

Sheryl Jesus and Larissa Rodrigues delivered the Vote of Thanks and also expressed their appreciation for the Cherubs and the Parish for taking the trouble to arrange such an enjoyable evening for them. Nourished and enriched, the couples returned back to their homes after volunteering for the various parish activities.
