NERUL-MUMBAI, DECEMBER 18, 2014: To give the students a break after their stressful exam days, the Don Bosco School, Nerul organized a picnic to Keshav Shrusti in Bhayandar on December 13, which also served as an educational trip. Students of classes VI-X were taken for the picnic. The students reported in the school at 6.30 a.m. and the buses departed by 7:30 a.m.

Keshav Shrusti turned out to be a campus spread over 200 acres of lush green valley with agricultural land, fruit bearing trees, herbal plants and forest wealth. It carried an unforgettable aura of peace and tranquility. There were nearly 500 herbal plants within the large campus of Keshav Srushti, some of them being rare species. After a quick breakfast the students were divided into groups. Each group got a chance to involve in a number of activities like preparing Maggi through solar cookers, paper recycling, presentations and a memorable nature walk around the campus.

They were shown a wide variety of fruit bearing trees, Coconut Plantations, Herbal Plants. Students learnt a lot about annual and biennial crops namely, bananas, bottle gourd, radish, turnips, pumpkins and cabbages. Vermi compost and the bio gas plant were also shown. The fruits, vegetables as well as Ayurvedic medicines grown and produced there were also available for sale. After the nature walk

lunch was served in the same premises. They left Keshav Shrusti by 3:00 p.m.

The next picnic spot was the Global Vipassana Pagoda which is a Meditation Hall near Gorai. The Pagoda indeed turned out to be a great relief after a tiresome day. The best feature of the Pagoda was the center that contained the world's largest stone dome built without any supporting pillars. The students also got to view architecture combining ancient Indian and modern technology as well as Lord Buddha's teaching inscribed on the walls around the Pagoda.

The surrounding was filled with serenity and the entire experience was absolutely enriching. They reached back to School by 7:30 p.m. In all, the objective set by the school was achieved as the trip turned out to be a different one from the regular walk of life and at the same time had a slice of educational value.
