VASAI, JULY 30, 2015: Parents day was celebrated with much enthusiasm by the parishioners of Our Lady of Light, Jyoti at Virar.
Animated by the youth and Sunday school children of the parish, July 26 is when they said a big 'thank you' and an even bigger 'I love you' to their parents.
The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist. Father Sanjay Lopes was the main celebrant. Father Royal- the youngest parish priest in the Vasai Diocese- encouraged parents to follow in the footsteps of Saints Joachim and Ann, parents of Mary. He advised parents to lead by example and nurture their children with good values.
The children animated the liturgy, sang in the choir and even assisted as altar servers. This was followed by a musical, specially prepared by the youth of the parish.
Father Royal ended the festivities with the words, "May Saints Ann and Joaquim help us Salesians in imitating them, especially as we accompany them by our way of loving and leading the young- The Don Bosco way."
