BIS #4538 GO GREEN INITIATIVE A HIT IN PUNE

PUNE , AUGUST 26, 2015: Around hundred parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish, Yerwada participated in a 10-kilometre long Cyclothon on August 23, as part of their Go Green initiative.


Father Anton, the Parish Priest, flagged off the rally, which is the first of its kind in the parish.

 

The event saw participants across different age groups, come together to promote cycling and healthy living.

 

Cycling is the best and the most economical way to not only stay fit but also fight diseases like diabetes, asthma, bronchitis and other heart diseases.

 

Vishal Lobo then addressed the congregation about the impact of pollution. He emphasised the importance of taking drastic measures to tackle the menace of air pollution, given that Pune is among the top five most polluted cities in India, when it comes to air pollution.

 

The parish also undertaking various other eco-friendly initiatives focused on the 3 R's of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to ensure the parish is eco-friendly.
