MUMBAI, DEC 9, 2015: Senior police personnel from MHB Police station in Borivli briefed students of Don Bosco Junior College, Borivli on January 7 about the dangers that youth face in this age of social media.

Sub Inspector Rathor, Head Constable Sonavne, Constable Jadhav and PN Shinde briefed the students about the need to always be alert in order to keep themselves and their surrounding safe from anti-social elements.

In the age of Facebook and Watsapp, they instructed students to send or accept friend requests only from people they know and not from strangers. They told the students that mobile SIM card activation now required address verification as a measure to combat terror.

They also mentioned that unemployed youth are sometimes brainwashed by certain ideologies to turn against their country and thus join such anti-national groups. Hence, they said, it is important for students to be alert to the dangerous that exist in society today.

The seminar helped to create a sense of national pride by bringing to mind some of the achievements of the Indian Police and defence forces. In the process of the discussion they reminded students of the following helplines: Police 100, Women's safety 103, Chid line 1090.
