NASHIK, FEB 3, 2015: The lay faithful and the religious institutes belonging to the Don Bosco Church, Nashik participated in the Novena to Saint John Bosco from January 22 which culminated with the solemnity of the feast of Don Bosco on January 31.

The theme for the novena focused on the extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy – the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. Focussing on the life of Don Bosco, the apostle of mercy to the young, the preachers encouraged the congregation to practice these works in having Don Bosco as their model.

On the eve of the solemnity, an Academy was organised in honour of Saint of the young. Each religious community - as well as the different zones of the parish – staged a five-minute programme which helped highlight the personality of Don Bosco. It was an enjoyable and heart-warming experience for all.

Bishop of the Nashik diocese, Lourdes Daniel celebrated the Holy Eucharist on January 31. In his homily, he called on the faithful to 'become saints' and urged them to set a good example in the education of the young.
