PUNE, AUG 1, 2016: Two students from Don Bosco High School Yerwada, Pune are part of a five member team currently representing India at the Asian School Summit at Miyazaki, Japan, where they will discuss 
the issue of Globalisation, it's effects on local industries and possible ways to deal with competition emanating from global companies.
Vaishnavi Salve and Prathamesh Kenjale, from standard ten, left for Japan on July 29 to attend the Summit which has been organised by Kalyani Maxion Wheels Ltd and Don Bosco School, Miyazaki, Japan. Three other students from different schools in Pimpri, Chinchwad and Talegaon-Dabhade are also part of the team.
During the five-day summit, the students will have a variety of sessions, seminars and industrial visits dedicated to the theme of the summit. The complete project is co-ordinated by Narendra Patil, HR Manager of Kalyani Maxion Wheels.
The process of selecting the students for the Summit began in November 2015, when a scrutiny test was conducted at the institution. The shortlisted students were called for a rigorous round of interviews by Maxion Wheels experts to select the final five candidates. Finally in February this year, two of the four semi-finalists from Don Bosco were selected.
Following their selection, the students started periodic interactions with the selected students from other Asian countries like China, Thailand and Japan through video conferencing at Maxion Wheels.
"It's a unique experience of my life. I'm very excited to be at the conference in Japan," Kenjale said, while Savle added, "It's a life changing opportunity for me and I'm proud to represent my school and nation on an international stage. I will surely make my school and parents feel proud through my contribution there."
The Principal, Father Bosco D'Mello, described the selection as a historic moment in the annals of Don Bosco, Yerwada. Prashant Gaikwad, the teacher who co-ordinated the whole process, said that the event would inspire forthcoming students to prepare themselves for such global events.
