BIS #4937 BREAKING THE LANGUAGE BARRIER

by Father Kiran Salve

WALVANDA, SEP 22, 2016: 'Learn English' is the new mantra of Walvanda-based Don Bosco, as the management of the institution first started English classes at a local Jilha Parishad School and have now begun evening English study classes at the Don Bosco premises on September 15.

Father Anaclete D'Mello and Father Rixson Nigrel were instrumental in instituting the initiative for the upliftment of the needy and the marginalized youngsters of Jawhar and Mokhada Talukas.

They first began with just a handful of students but numbers have grown to almost 90. By teaching at the Jilha Parishad School, the community hopes to make the school an 'Ideal School '.

The main aim of this venture is to reach out to the school going children and to teach them basic English skills. The initiative is also aimed at making Don Bosco and his works known through the initiative.

In order to take this venture to another level and to make it more efficient and fruitful, the community has decided to give four youth volunteers from Padas, a crash course in English. These four youth will help in taking English classes.
