by Father Kiran Slave

WALVANDA, OCT 27, 2016: Sixteen tribal women from Jawahar and Mokhada blocks of Walvanda attended an income generation skill programme organised by Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha (BSVS) Walwanda on October 24 and 25.

Father Anaclete D'Mello spearheaded the programme in a bid to make tribal women economically sound and to build confidence with the appropriate resources available at their surroundings.

Meena Padvi and Seeta Sambar, the main resource persons for the programme are themselves from tribal backgrounds and successfully run their own businesses.

To kick-start the programme as a business venture, BSVS gave participants an opportunity to make 800 flowers. BSVS also contacted various schools and made them aware of the project, which these women seek to initiate.

The schools in turn agreed to co-operate with the venture. Now, at an appropriate time the women will be introduced to RAAHA Foundation for direct marketing.

During the programme, the women were given theory and practical lessons. Father Rixson Nigrel and Prakash Wagh also shared some tips on entrepreneurship.

At the end of the second day, the women who attended the course were confident to start their own small-scale business.
