MUMBAI, JAN 23, 2017: Shelter Don Bosco organised the monthly Mela for street boys on the theme 'Self help is the best help' on January 20 at their premises in Wadala. It is an effort to mend the ways of these boys who have gone astray because of addictions and bad habits.

Around 60 young men from the age group of 16 to 30 years participated in the mela. Father Cleophas Braganza along with 25 youth from Don Bosco Youth Services (DBYS) conducted a session on 'human rights' followed by a brief orientation about the various projects of Shelter Don Bosco. Later, the youth were keenly involved with the activities of the street boys.

Albert Bhandare briefed the gathering about winter care, how to keep themselves warm and about the appropriate diet and precautions to be taken. The street youth were then given a haircut and facilities for a bath with clean clothes to wear. Staff members organised games for entertainment. The day ended with a dance session.

The  event was an  eye opener for the DBYS youth, many having experienced the mela for the first time. They expressed their willingness to continue their voluntary services to Shelter Don Bosco.
