BIS #5144 WE NEED SAINTS. DO YOU WANT TO BE ONE?

by Perpetual Nazareth

MUMBAI, JULY 7, 2017: Young leaders of Don Bosco High School, Matunga – at their investiture ceremony on July 5 – were given an inspiring message on the virtues of being good leaders.

The ceremony began with the school management being welcomed through a guard of honour by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) to the beat of the school band. After the lighting of the lamp, class 8E conducted a thought provoking assembly posing a relevant question, 'We Need Saints.  Do you want to be one? ' Through a skit the class demonstrated how Saint Dominic Savio inspires teenagers to lead a holy life like him.

A good leader is one who knows the way, shows the way and goes the way. Father Crispino D'Souza, the Rector, highlighted this virtue when he spoke of the three P's - profit, power and personal glorification that each leader should avoid and the three S's - sacrifice, selflessness and service that ought to be pursued by every virtuous leader.

Father D'Souza's message was followed by the oath-taking ceremony. The leaders were invested with symbols of authority and they promised to act as beacons of selflessness, humility and discipline. The nature club and the NCC students undertook a tree plantation drive urging one and all to wake up the leader within us to protect our nature and environment.
